Description
The sense of place has shaped the Irish literary imagination for several generations of Irish writers. This course will explore the sense of place as a defining element in Irish culture and examine the evolution of the sense of place in Irish contemporary literature in the context of climate change, taking into account the existence of texts in Irish and their meaning in relation to place, landscape and the natural environment.
We will read and analyse selected texts in English, taking into account the existence of texts in Irish and their meaning in relation to place, landscape and the natural environment.
Bonus : a one-month exhibition of Irish artists starting 9 September with a one-day conference at Maison de la Création et de l’Innovation, UGA Campus, Tram Gabriel Fauré Muse, International Conference « Landscapes on the Move » with Irish artists, among other artists.
