Description
The lab project "organic syntheses" or “Polymer” or "Chemistry of Life Science" is a one-week immersion into the world of research labs. Students will have to focus on specific objectives: total synthesis, synthesis of ligands, synthesis of polymer, asymmetric catalysis … They will have to carry out bibliography searching, compare the available methods, plan the synthesis (reactants and solvents needed) as well as establishing a suitable retrosynthesis. An important part of characterization of the products will be realised, in particular in the lab project “Polymer”.
Recommended prerequisite
Organic chemistry (Bachelor program).
Targeted skills
Independence, synthetic chemistry techniques (distillation, chromatography, anhydrous/anaerobic conditions), schedule management.
