Quantum information and quantum engineering 2nd year

Presentation and goals

This program on Quantum Information and Quantum Engineering was created in 2021 in answer to the french national Quantum strategy. It provides a Master 2 training in line with the new needs of Grenoble research laboratories working on cutting-edge subjects in rapid and constant evolution within the framework of a strong international competition (See QuantAlps https://quantalps.univ-grenoble-alpes.fr).

It completes the training offers by the first year Master of Nanophysics-Quantum physics as well as the UFR Phitem M1. This Master 2 program aims to train students with a strong expertise at the interface between the fundamental and experimental aspects of quantum physics with the objective of controlling quantum systems and quantum bits in the vision of their applications in the field of quantum communication, quantum information processing and quantum engineering. It also allows the opening of multidisciplinary courses at the interface with mathematics and computer science.

This program is fully consistent with the outstanding developments in quantum technologies in Grenoble and worldwide. This program is perfectly suited to the needs of academic laboratories, offering many opportunities for internships and PhD programs. 

This Master 2 is open to international students, and give access to the Quantum Graduate School program if you have been registered to the 1st year of this program (https://quantalps.univ-grenoble-alpes.fr/education/graduate-school-program-quantum/). All courses are given in English.

This program will provide lessons from fundamentals aspects and implementations to advanced instrumentations, as well as a 4-5 months full time internship in research teams for the preparation of the master's thesis.

Open Quantum systems (3 ECTS)
Quantum optics (3 ECTS)
Quantum transport (3 ECTS) 

Implementations:

Solid state qubits (3 ECTS)
Nanomagnetism and spintronics(3 ECTS)
Quantum algorithms (3 ECTS)
Quantum seminars (3 ECTS).

Advanced instrumentations:

Quantum practicals on IBM-Q (3 ECTS)
Microwave and cryoelectronics (3 ECTS)
From nanofabrication in research labs to VLSI (3 ECTS).

National diploma conferring the degree of license in a field compatible with that of the master Title or acquired recognized equivalent by the admissions committee of the University of Grenoble Alpes

Public continuing education: You fall under continuing education:

  • if you resume your studies after 2 years of interruption of studies
  • or if you followed training under the continuing education regime in one of the previous 2 years or if you are an employee, job seeker, self-employed person

If you do not have the required diploma to integrate the training, you can undertake a process of validation of personal and professional achievements (VAPP)
