Description
Statistics is the science whose object is to collect, process, and analyse data from the observation of random phenomena, that is to say in which chance happens.
Statistics are an essential tool for the understanding and management of complex phenomena (meteorological, physical, biological, etc.), since it allows one, through data analysis, to describe these phenomena, to make forecasts, and to make decisions about them.
We will discuss in this course the univariate statistic, starting with the descriptive analysis tools, and then by estimation and statistical tests for parametric models. Finally, we will discuss the notion of nonparametric estimation. The different notions will be illustrated using software R.
Recommended prerequisite
Fundamental probability tools, theory of measurement.
