Description

This class aims at training students in numerical methods, through a project-oriented teaching. The course is taught in English.

The course is organized as follows:

- September - 5 courses (5x1.5H) : Recalls on numerical analysis and computing, finite-differences method, finite elements method , spectral method, Inverse problem

- October - January: Project followed by one supervisor on one "numerical" topic focused on a simple physical problem (related to a topic of interest for the student):

# the physical problem
# mathematical equations
# discretization
# algorithm
# code implementation (generally in Matlab or Python or..., based on the student choice)
# validation
# analysis of the method (stability, accuracy, ...)

The grade is associated to the project: one mi-term defense (November) and one written report (January)
